CameraSync App Reviews

Location sync WAS the bomb

The location sync was so awesome, I could hardly contain myself. It was the whole reason I got the app. It was amazing and handled the huge stress of saving photos and videos from my devices. It has not worked since the update and now its just a source of stress and another thing to do. Please fix this already!!!!!

It works!

Which is more than I can say for any of the other Dropbox photo apps, including Dropboxs own app. Simple clear and functional - hurray!

Nice app for photos

Im moving my photo storage from iCloud to Dropbox and this app helped me make it very easy. I did have a problem with video syncing as the app seemed to hangup when that happened, so Ill just do them manually.

Wasted time and money

I specially got this app to upload videos to flicker and Dropbox which it claims it will do. However, Ive tried every conceivable way to get this app to do that, but it will not. Also, it only uploads photos when the app is open. It will not upload in the background. The upload feature on the two cloud services work better than this.

Not Automatic, But Still Worth $2

So, yeah, as others have said, this thing does not work automatically because of the irritating IOS background activity restrictions. Also, triggering upload via location geo-fencing does not seem to work at all either. But it’s still a useful app. I was trying to sync everything to Dropbox and could never to get it to complete before IOS forces it to stop, especially if any large videos were in the queue. But I took an idea from another reviewer here and set up a local network FTP sync to an iMac. CameraSync will now very quickly FTP sync over the much faster local network to my Dropbox folder on that iMac, which then syncs to Dropbox at its own much more reliable pace. Setting up FTP on OSX is dead easy — just Google it if you want to try this.

Keeps my photos backed up

Works great! Copies photos and videos to my computer every time I get home. Just a note, Im using FTP to local networked computer over wifi only. I think I had some problems when trying to upload to Flickr.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

This app NEVER worked fully as advertised. Its abandoned by the developer. No issue fixing updates.

Best way to get photos to Flickr.

I have tried every app to get photos to upload to Flickr. This one is the best (only one that consistently works). I had an IFFT recipe and it would miss photos. This gets them all. Maybe my only feature request is I would like to be able to configure it so that my videos could go to a different service like google, YouTube, etc. I dont like what Flickr does to my videos. Not sure how well it works in background. I usually just open it every once in a while at let it upload when I go to bed. No biggie for me.

The app does not work

The app crashes every time. Waste of money!!!

Really Like It

Easy to sync to my NAS, what more can you ask?!?

FTP sync: happy

I was looking for a utility that can access the Camera Roll and upload it via FTP. This fits the bill. I avoided competitors that wanted to install applications on my desktop machine to accomplish this task, and again this fits the bill.

Waste of time, does absolutely nothing

This app does nothing. It lets you set it up, and then when you try to start it backing up your photos, it sits there at 0.0% progress. I gave up after 3 hours of it doing absolutely nothing. You know, Ive spent all night trying to get a photo album uploaded. Its no wonder the iPad is failing... even simple tasks take all night just to find out you cant even do them. All the apps are broken & dont do what they promise. Annoying. Edit: upgraded from 1 to 3 stars because I tried again and now, after wasting 3 hours of my time, its suddenly uploading.

FTP mode causes crash every time

I am a power user and intended to use this for backing up photos to my home network. Thus, I set up an FTP server and paid for this app. Upon starting the app, I chose FTP and entered my server info. Clicking on the login button causes the app to crash. Every time. No matter what info you provide. The developer need to implement basic unit tests to prevent regressions like this. Poor choices for quality control from a development team that takes my money before letting me try the app.
